These terms apply to BookBildr Self-Publishing packages and related self-publishing services.
By purchasing a self-publishing service from BookBildr, you agree to the following terms.
1. You Remain the Publisher
BookBildr provides design, file preparation, editorial, and self-publishing support services. We do not become the publisher of your book under a Self-Publishing package.
You remain responsible for your book and publish it under your own name or imprint using your own publishing accounts.
2. ISBNs and Publishing Accounts
You are responsible for obtaining any ISBNs required for your book and for creating and maintaining your own Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, or other publishing accounts.
When you use your own ISBN, your own publishing imprint can be associated with the book. KDP and IngramSpark also have their own rules regarding ISBNs and publisher information.
BookBildr does not provide BookBildr-owned ISBNs for books purchased through our Self-Publishing packages.
3. Your Content
You must own or have permission to use all text, illustrations, photographs, fonts, artwork, and other materials you provide to BookBildr.
By submitting material to us, you confirm that its publication does not knowingly infringe another party’s copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights.
You retain ownership of the material you provide.
4. AI-Generated Content
Books containing AI-generated text or artwork may be accepted for BookBildr Self-Publishing services.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to use and publish any AI-generated material you submit and for complying with the disclosure and content requirements of the publishing platforms you use.
BookBildr may decline work containing material that presents copyright, trademark, quality, or other legal or publishing concerns.
5. File Evaluation
Where file evaluation is included, we will review the files for technical and obvious layout issues relevant to publication.
File evaluation is not a guarantee that every error will be detected, and it does not include redesign or extensive correction unless those services are specifically included in your package.
6. Editing and Proofreading
The level of editorial work included depends on the package purchased.
Basic proofreading is limited to spelling, punctuation, and obvious typographical errors.
Basic line editing may also include grammar and awkward phrasing while preserving the author’s meaning and voice.
Unless specifically agreed otherwise, our services do not include developmental editing, substantial rewriting, fact-checking, plagiarism checking, or legal review.
7. Design and Layout
If your package requires you to supply a finished, professionally designed PDF, substantial redesign of that file is not included.
If BookBildr determines that the supplied files require work beyond the scope of the purchased package, we will contact you before proceeding. Additional work may require a separate fee.
For packages that include layout or cover design, the scope is limited to the services and number of illustrations stated in the package description.
8. Revisions
The number and scope of included revisions are stated in the package purchased.
A revision round means one consolidated set of reasonable changes submitted at one time.
Major changes to the manuscript, illustrations, dimensions, concept, or design after work has begun may be treated as additional work and quoted separately.
9. Publishing Platforms
BookBildr can prepare files and provide guidance for platforms such as Amazon KDP and IngramSpark.
Each platform sets and changes its own technical, content, account, distribution, and approval requirements. KDP and IngramSpark retain control over whether a title or file is accepted and how it is distributed.
BookBildr cannot guarantee acceptance, publication, distribution, ranking, sales, reviews, retailer availability, or commercial success.
10. Publishing Setup Guidance
Where publishing setup guidance is included, we will help you understand the upload and setup process and prepare the information and files needed for publication.
Your publishing accounts remain under your control. You are responsible for account verification, tax information, banking details, identity verification, contracts, pricing decisions, and final approval of publication.
11. Book Description and Metadata
Where included, BookBildr may prepare or recommend a book description, categories, keywords, and other metadata.
You are responsible for reviewing and approving this information before publication.
Metadata recommendations are intended to assist with professional book setup and do not guarantee discoverability or sales.
12. Turnaround Times
Any turnaround time provided is an estimate and begins once we have received all required files, information, and payment.
Delays in receiving materials, approvals, corrections, or responses from the author may extend the project timeline.
Platform review and processing times are outside BookBildr’s control.
13. Payment and Refunds
Payment is required before work begins unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Because self-publishing packages include professional services performed specifically for your book, payments are non-refundable once work has begun.
If BookBildr is unable to provide a purchased service, we will either offer an appropriate alternative or refund the portion of the service that cannot be provided.
14. Author Approval
You are responsible for reviewing all final files carefully before approving them for publication.
Once you approve the final files, BookBildr is not responsible for errors that were visible in the approved proof or for costs resulting from printing or publishing an approved file.
We strongly recommend ordering and reviewing a physical proof copy before making a print edition widely available.
15. Printing and Distribution Costs
Printing costs, platform fees, ISBN purchases, distribution fees, proof copies, author copies, shipping, advertising, and other third-party expenses are not included unless specifically stated in the package description.
16. Changes to Third-Party Services
Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, and other third-party services may change their specifications, prices, policies, distribution options, or account requirements at any time.
If such a change requires substantial additional work after your project has been completed or approved, additional fees may apply.
17. Refusal of Service
BookBildr reserves the right to refuse or discontinue work on material that we reasonably believe is unlawful, infringing, fraudulent, abusive, or unsuitable for the service purchased.
If work has not yet begun, any payment for the declined service will be refunded.
