BookBildr Illustration Terms and Conditions

These terms apply to all illustration commissions fulfilled by BookBildr and its affiliated artists. By commissioning illustration services from us, you agree to the following terms:

1. Scope of Work

Illustration projects may include full-page illustrations, spot illustrations, and/or coloring pages. All work is custom-made to support your authored content, such as children’s books, educational materials, or other creative works.

Each project includes:

  • Final, high-resolution digital files (print-ready format)
  • Preliminary sketches and drafts as needed

All artwork is created manually or using traditional digital tools. We do not use AI or AI-assisted tools at any stage of the illustration process.

2. Payment Terms

Payments are split into two equal installments:

  • 50% due upon signing the agreement
  • 50% due upon delivery of the final artwork

Invoices are issued by BookBildr and are payable via bank transfer or credit card. A 1.5% weekly service charge may apply to late payments made more than 5 days after the invoice due date.

3. Rights and Usage

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, the Artist grants the Commissioner an exclusive, perpetual license to use the illustrations solely in connection with the authored work. This includes use in all formats and media (print, digital, merchandise, etc.).

The Artist retains ownership of the illustrations and may showcase them in their personal portfolio (e.g., website, social media). The illustrations may not be resold or reused by either party outside the scope of the original project.

All story content and written material remain the sole property of the Commissioner.

4. Artist Credit

The Artist’s name must appear as the illustrator in the final published work. If no credit line is provided, an additional fee of 50% of the total illustration cost may apply.

Both the Artist and the Commissioner agree to properly credit one another in any promotional or public use of the illustrated work.

5. Creative Process and Revisions

We value creative collaboration. The Artist will interpret the project with their own creative style, and the Commissioner has final approval of the artwork.

Each commission includes a reasonable number of revisions. Any additional revisions beyond the agreed scope may be subject to extra fees.

6. Cancellations

If the project is cancelled after work has begun:

  • The Artist retains all rights to incomplete or unused artwork.
  • Any completed work remains payable and is non-refundable.
  • Neither party may use unfinished or partial work for commercial purposes.

7. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

This agreement shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which BookBildr is registered for the specific project. Any disputes must be resolved through binding arbitration in the same jurisdiction. Each party will be responsible for their own legal costs. Arbitration rulings may be enforced in any relevant country or state.
